Meeting with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO)

Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce​, had a meeting with Ms. Marisa Haruta, Representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Cambodia and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) within the framework of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council and the East Asia Business Council. This Memorandum of Cooperation was made on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.

This Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) is aimed at promoting the private sector in field of commerce and supporting regional cooperation within the framework of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council and the East Asia Business Council under the Chairmanship of Neak Oknha Kith Meng.

1. Cooperation under the framework of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council and the East Asia Business Council

- Make mutual efforts to promote trade and investment between Japan and ASEAN / East Asia countries.

- Propose a report of recommendations of private companies to ASEAN / East Asia leaders

- Develop program of ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and encourage companies to support the summit.

2. Trade Promotion Cooperation

- Promoting a favorable environment to encourage Japanese private companies to do business in Cambodia.

- Organize joint activities to promote business and investment promotion events including business matchings, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, business missions, and so on.

It should be noted that for more than 10 years, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and the Japan External Trade Organization have collaborated on many programs together. Both institutions have achieved remarkably fruitful implementation of programs and projects. Therefore, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation is a positive sign that will help strengthening and deepening the cooperation between the two institutions. In addition, this cooperation will help maintaining a good relations and joint efforts of the two institutions to ensure maximum benefits during Cambodia's hosting of the 2022 ASEAN Summit.
