Mitsui & Co., Ltd Seeks for Information on Oil Exploration And Agriculture In Cambodia

Mr. HIROSHI NAKANO, chief representative of MITSUI & CO., LTD, met H.E Nguon Meng Tech, director general of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce on May 20, 2010 to seek for information on oil exploration business and agriculture in Cambodia. Mr. HIROSHI NAKANO said that MITSUI is interested in rubber plantation and processing. MITSUI would like to know the general situation of investment environment in Cambodia and the role of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.

H.E Nguon Meng Tech explained the roles of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC). He indicated how CCC contributed to private sector development. Regarding investment potential, Cambodia has many potential areas including energy, tourism, and agriculture. Agricultural land is available in most part of Cambodia. Rubber plants are growing in Kampong Cham province and along North-East provinces. H.E Nguon Meng Tech recommended MITSUI to invest in rubber plantation and processing since Cambodia export a lot of raw rubber to neighbor countries. For oil exploration, H.E Nguon Meng Tech said that now more and more investors are interested in this area.
